Monaghans have been named one of the UK’s leading apprenticeship employers, securing 29th place in the SME Top Apprenticeship Employers 2026 rankings.

The national ranking is published by Higherin in partnership with the UK Government, which recognises employers that are making a real difference through the quality of their apprenticeship programmes. With around 600 employers entering this year's awards, achieving a place in the Top 50 is something we're incredibly proud of.

For more than five decades, Monaghans has run structured apprenticeship programmes, with schemes now in place across its Sheffield, London, Manchester and Leeds offices. The programmes offer entry level routes into quantity surveying, building surveying and project management for ambitious school leavers and career changers alike, pairing hands on experience on live projects with fully supported degree apprenticeships that lead to RICS chartered status.

From day one our apprentices gain hands-on experience, work alongside experienced professionals and develop both the technical and personal skills needed to succeed in the built environment. They bring fresh perspectives, new ideas and energy to our teams, while receiving the support and mentoring needed to reach their potential. The impact of that investment is visible throughout Monaghans, with several board directors and senior leaders having started their careers as trainees within the company.

This people-first approach is central to Monaghans’ social value commitment. By creating opportunities for people to enter the industry and achieve professional qualifications, we are helping to build a stronger and more resilient future for the sector.

Achieving 29th place nationally is a fantastic milestone for everyone involved, from the apprentices developing their careers to the colleagues who coach, mentor and champion them along the way. It reinforces our belief that investing in people is one of the most valuable investments any organisation can make.

Apprentice voices

This recognition is best told through the people experiencing it. Our apprentices share how the programme has helped them grow, develop new skills and take important steps in their careers.
