Baseline Emissions Footprint

Baseline emissions are a record of the greenhouse gases produced by Monaghans Limited based on our business activities in 2019 based on pre covid activities and working practices and before any new strategies to reduce emissions. These Baseline Emissions are the reference point against which emissions reduction can be measured.

Emissions Reduction Targets

In order to continue our progress to achieving Net Zero, we have adopted the following carbon reduction targets.

Monaghans Limited is targeting Net Zero Emissions across its activities by 2050. This target includes all emission sources covered in PN06/21.

Completed Carbon Reduction Initiatives

The following environmental management measures and projects have been completed or implemented since the 2019 baseline.
Carbon reduction initiatives implemented to date:
 

  • Introduction of new virtual meeting working practices

  • Flexible working policy

  • ‘Refurbishment’ of office equipment rather than replacement during the office upgrade works

  • Introduction of a more energy efficient heating and cooling system within the office refurbishment

  • Introduction of a cycle to work scheme 

  • Reduced business travel through remote working

  • LED lighting replacement scheme to increase efficiency of lights

  • Change to a fully renewable energy tariff for the electricity used within the offices

 

In the future we hope to implement further measures such as:

  • Provide additional CPD with environmental focuses

  • ISO14001 certification

  • Explore carbon offsetting opportunities

  • Continue to consider the environmental impact of future office moves and relocations

  • Review the potential impact of a wider return to work strategy

  • Continue monitoring consumption of energy, natural resources and carbon generation on construction sites with our clients

  • Improve accuracy of carbon self-assessment by implementing improved methods of tracking

In addition to the above internal carbon reduction initiatives, we have also supported our clients on a number of carbon reduction plans. We have offered a variety of services to assist our clients in progressing their businesses in reducing their carbon emissions.

Declaration and Sign Off

This Carbon Reduction Plan has been completed in accordance with PPN 06/21 and associated guidance and reporting standard for Carbon Reduction Plans.

Emissions have been reported and recorded in accordance with the published reporting standard for Carbon Reduction Plans and the GHG Reporting Protocol corporate standard and uses the appropriate Government emission conversion factors for greenhouse gas company reporting.

Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions have been reported in accordance with SECR requirements, and the required subset of Scope 3 emissions have been reported in accordance with the published reporting standard for Carbon Reduction Plans and the Corporate Value Chain (Scope 3) Standard.

This Carbon Reduction Plan has been reviewed and signed off by the board of directors (or equivalent management body).
