Since appointment as Project Manager, Quantity Surveyor, Principal Designer and CDM Advisor in July 2018, Monaghans have completed 16 schemes for Specsavers. The schemes, in collaboration with Sainsbury’s and part of their mission to provide customers with better choice and convenience, involve opening Specsavers outlets in Sainsbury’s supermarkets.

The projects, spanning across the UK, have a combined value of just under £2 million and involved the completion of 62 test rooms across the 16 new stores. The Specsavers outlet in Sainsbury’s Kensington Superstore, the latest and largest concession store to open, also has the highest scheme value and features several new innovative concepts including new signage.

Jon Hardy of Specsavers said:

“Monaghans were appointed to meet the demands of our New Concessions opening programme within Sainsbury’s stores. I am pleased to say they mobilised quickly and efficiently and progressed management of projects within a month after appointment.  Monaghans are providing essential PM/QS services which are enabling our store Directors to open profitable stores. In addition to the Sainsbury’s sites, Monaghans have also provided QS services on our new space and refurb projects, allowing Specsavers to maintain pace during a heavy quarter 4 programme. Monaghans’ values and ethics align perfectly with the Specsavers family values, which has resulted in a positive, efficient working team all set to succeed in the 2019/20 Concessions opening programme.”

Speaking at the grand opening of Specsavers 800th UK and Irish outlet in Sainsbury’s Superstore in Preston, Dame Mary Perkins, co-founder of Specsavers, spoke of her delight with the success of the collaboration between two well-known brands and the plan to open further locations in the future.

We are proud to have supported the rollout programme over the past 9 months with Specsavers and are looking forward to completing further projects for the well-known optometry and audiology specialists in the future.
